Convicted child predator gets 22 years in prison

Joshua Agariel Escobar, 26, of Turlock was sentenced June 14 to 22 years in prison on two counts of continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14.

Escobar also admitted that the victims were particularly vulnerable and that the suspect abused a position of trust.

On April 16, the defendant entered his no contest plea to the crimes. Assistant District Attorney Sara D. Sousa prosecuted the case for the people.

The charges stem from the abuse of two confidential minor victims, both under the age of 14. Escobar continuously sexually abused confidential victim #1 between 2016 and 2022 and continuously sexually abused confidential victim #2 between 2014 and 2020.

Escobar willingly participated in the criminal investigation and admitted to his crimes. After entering a no contest plea, the Honorable Judge Shawn Bessey sentenced Escobar to 22 years in prison. These sentences require Escobar to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
