NEW DELHI: Student organisations of INDIA’s bloc parties on Tuesday criticised the BJP-led Centre for alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG and reiterated their demand that the medical entrance test be re-conducted for all the 2.4 million candidates who had appeared in it.

At a joint press conference, national leaders of student organisations, including the Left-backed All India Students’ Association (AISA), Students’ Federation of India (SFI) and All India Students’ Federation (AISF), along with the Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha and the Congress’s student wing, National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), alleged that the future of hundreds of thousands of students is in jeopardy due to manipulation in the NEET-UG.

The students also demanded the dissolution of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan about reported incidents of paper leaks and corruption in the exam.

The The NTA announced the results of 1,563 candidates on Monday who took a re-examination to compensate for the loss of time, as the exam at six centers on May 5 started late.

None of the five candidates who received a perfect score of 720 on May 5 were able to match the result of the retest.

The number of candidates who achieved the highest rank in the medical entrance test dropped from 67 to 61 in the revised results.
