FOND DU LAC – Music, music and more live music. There’s no shortage of concerts planned in Fond du Lac and beyond.

Whatever your preference, you’re sure to find something to suit your taste, from the polka fusion of Copper Box to the core group The Del Rays.

So get out there and support some local artists this week.

Copper Box to headline Ripon concert series on July 5

Copper Box, one of the country’s top polka fusion bands, will headline the next Horicon Bank Ripon Summer Concert Series, scheduled for July 5. The concert runs from 7 to 10 p.m. on the Village Green.

Copper Box, led by former Riponite Danny Jerabek and his wife Michelle, offers a unique musical experience of folk, polka, rock, blues and jazz. Other band members include Dan Cable and Danny’s brother, David Jerabek.

Bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on. No take-aways are allowed in the park. Beverages will be available for purchase, with proceeds going toward entertainment costs and downtown beautification projects. Next week’s concert will feature blues from the Jay Stulo Band.

Music Under the Stars presents Liquid Courage on July 8

This week’s Music Under the Stars concert features Liquid Courage, an extreme variety band, on July 8. The concert begins at 7 p.m. at Buttermilk Creek Park, 700 S. Park Ave. Admission is free.

Liquid Courage covers songs from artists like Elvis, Bodeans, INXS, Blink 182, Tom Jones, Violent Femmes, Billy Joel, Poison, Green Day, Fleetwood Mac and many more. They like to play danceable songs, sometimes they play almost 50 songs during a concert.

The ticket booth opens at 6:15 p.m. If the weather is bad, the concerts will be moved to the Fond du Lac County Fairgrounds.

Longtime artists The Del Rays to give free concert

The Del Rays will perform in concert at 6:30 p.m. July 11 at West End Park, 200 Beaver Dam St., Waupun. The free concert is part of the Concerts in the Park series.

The Del Rays are a four-piece band that has been performing together since the late 1970s. They play a variety of rock and roll from the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. The Del Rays have performed with national acts such as Sha-Na-Na, the Crystals, Bobby Vee, Fabian, the Fireballs, Bill Hailey’s Comets, Chubby Checker, the Buckingham’s, Loving Spoonful, the Romantics, and others.

In case of rain, the concert will be held at the Waupun Community Center, 510 E. Spring St. Bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on. Although admission is free, donations are accepted.

Series Thirteen Thursdays with sister duo Reyna

Reyna will perform this week at the Thirteen Thursdays concert from 7-9 p.m. on July 11. The concerts are free and are performed in favor of the Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts, 51 Sheboygan St.

Reyna hails from Milwaukee and consists of sisters Gabriela and Victoriah Banuelos, who describe their music as “fun, danceable and sparkly.”

Drinks are available at the bar and food is also available. Gates open at 6:00 PM. Donations to Thelma are accepted at the gate.

Local organists take part in summer concert series

Organists from the Fond du Lac area will be giving recitals this summer. Next up in the Summer Noon Organ Recital Series are Father Tom Lijewski and Wendy Pelletier, playing at 12:15 p.m. July 11 at Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church, W1562 County B, Eden.

Voluntary donations are accepted. The proceeds go to a scholarship fund to support the training of young people to become organists.
