James Gunn Breaks Silence on Leaked Superman Set Photos

James Gunn recently released the leaked set photos from the filming of Superman in downtown Cleveland.

Since last week, photos from the set of the DCU film have surfaced online, giving fans a whole new look at David Corenswet’s Man of Steel suit and the supporting characters that appear in the film.

While many fans were very excited about the set photos and wanted to build their excitement for the film, they were also concerned that they might spoil key storylines of the DCU project.

James Gunn Responds to Superman Set Photo Leak

A fan recently asked Gunn on Threads for his opinion on the leak of photos from the set of the filming of Superman.

The director replied, “I expected that,” indicating that the online leaks didn’t surprise him at all.

Another fan also asked if the set photos revealed any major spoilers about the film. Thankfully, Gunn assured that none of the photos gave away the film, as he didn’t film the spoiler-heavy scenes on an outdoor set downtown.

“Not even a little bit. I would never shoot a big spoiler out in the middle of town,” he wrote.

It looks like fans don’t have to worry about the leaked set photos, as nothing about the film has been revealed. We only get a look at the characters’ costumes and an idea of how Corenswet will portray the iconic hero.

In recent years, we’ve also seen leaked set photos become the norm for online fans on Marvel and DC projects. Producers have also become more cautious about what they film outside, wanting to avoid revealing spoilers to outsiders who might see the photos.

With filming still underway in downtown Cleveland, fans can expect to see more photos from the set and learn more about the DCU project in the coming days.

At least they don’t have to worry about spoilers anymore, because Gunn himself has stated that he didn’t give away any surprises or twists.

Superman is scheduled for release in theaters on July 11, 2025.
