Mr Macaroni tells celebrities: “If trolls defame you, go to court instead of calling the police.” – New National Star

Adebowale Adedayo, better known online as Mr. Macaroni, is a Nigerian comedian and actor. He has advised other celebrities who feel vilified by internet trolls to take legal action instead of calling on the police to “illegally” arrest or jail people.

He continued to maintain that he had been wrongly accused of defamation on several occasions by alleged APC trolls, but he never took legal action.

He warned that it was “seriously dangerous” for citizens to be “illegally detained” by police.

The actor pleaded with his colleagues to refrain from “illegally detaining citizens” through their official connections.

Mr. Macaroni posted the following on his X-handle: “Go to court and seek justice if anyone insults you or discredits your character.”

“APC trolls smear me and spread countless lies about me. I have never, ever used the police to unlawfully detain or arrest anyone and I never will.

“When the police improperly detain citizens, it puts them in great danger.

“I hope that those of you who condone this abuse of power will not object if your family members or you become victims.

To be clear, this is not an endorsement of online bullying and harassment. I detest it and believe those responsible should be held accountable for their actions.

As a victim myself, I know how much psychological damage this can cause.

However, take legal action and seek justice, just like the rest of us.

“Don’t use your political connections to wrongfully detain someone. Even if it works to your advantage now, think about the day when you lose that power or the proximity to it.

It could be someone you love instead of you. If everyone decides to enforce the law on their own, what happens to us?

Mr Macaroni’s advice comes amid rumours that Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has arrested an X-user who allegedly wanted her child’s death.
